Located in the heart of the property, the pond was originally man-made. It was designed to be ornate and was adjacent to a house that has since been razed. Left unattended the pond has begun to let nature take over. I want to continue that encouragement. This will mean removing invasive aquatic plant species, and clearing the shoreline of other invasive plants. In keeping it available as a fresh-water source for the forest animals and birds, we can encourage life inside the water as well. The pond has a lot of potential to be a thriving ecosystem for both wildlife and people to enjoy.

Removing invasive aquatic plant species and clearing the shoreline of other invasive plants is an important step in preserving the natural balance of the pond.

Restoring the pond and stocking it with native fresh-water fish and frogs is a great way to support the local ecosystem, and it will also provide an opportunity for myself and others to observe and appreciate the diversity of wildlife that will call the pond home.
